SPD patrol officers responding to an unknown disturbance at a bus stop on N Dupont Hwy arrested a fleeing suspect for robbery. On Tuesday, 1/23/18 at approx. 4:15 p.m. officers responded to the area of US Rt 13 and E Mt Vernon St for a fight at the bus stop. Responding officers contacted a female victim who stated that her male acquaintance, Allen Reed, 56 of Dover had assaulted her and stolen her purse and belongings and then fled the area on foot. Officers canvassed the area for several minutes before locating Mr. Reed walking back towards the bus stop attempting to further harass the victim. The suspect refused commands from officers and was handcuffed after a brief struggle. During his arrest, Mr. Reed threatened further violence against the victim for calling Police. The suspect was transported back to SPD where he refused to comply with fingerprinting/photographing. He was eventually presented before Justice of the Peace Court #2 on charges of Robbery 2nd, Offensive touching, Disorderly Conduct, Aggravated intimidation of a witness, Resisting arrest and Failure to comply with fingerprinting. Mr. Reed was committed to the custody of D.O.C. in lieu of $18,000 secured bond. The Victim in this incident suffered minor injuries which did not require medical intervention and she was able to get all of her stolen property back.
