SPD patrol officers recently seized a quantity of heroin along with suspected drug proceeds after a traffic stop. On Monday, 1/22/18 at approximately 9:15 p.m. Smyrna Police on patrol stopped a vehicle on N Dupont Hwy in the area of East Commerce St for speeding. Further investigation led officers to believe that illegal drugs were inside of the vehicle. A search was conducted which revealed approx. 130 bags of heroin weighing an estimated 0.91 grams hidden inside of a book bag. In addition, officers located $1,365 in U.S. currency that is believed to be proceeds of drug sales in the driver, Ezekiel Shockley, 22 of Townsend’s pocket. Police also arrested the passenger, Zackary Shockley, 20 of Townsend. Both Suspects were also found to have outstanding court capiases. The Suspects were transported to police headquarters where an SPD K-9 team conducted a scan of the seized money, confirming the presence of narcotics odor on it. Ezekiel Shockley was presented before Justice of the Peace Court #7 on charges of Possession with intent to deliver heroin, and Conspiracy 2nd. He was additionally cited for Speeding and driving with a suspended license. He was committed to D.O.C. in lieu of $1,000 secured bond. Zackary Shockley was presented on charges of Possession with intent to deliver heroin, and Conspiracy 2nd. He was committed to D.O.C. in lieu of $1,000 secured bond.
