Smyrna Police investigating overnight shots fired incident


SPD detectives are continuing to investigate an incident in which shots were fired and unoccupied parked vehicles as well as a residence were damaged. On Thursday 1/18/18 at approximately 9:18 p.m. patrol units responded to the 300 block of Daniel Rd for a report of shots fired.  Responding units located at least one unoccupied vehicle which had been struck and began canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.  According to witness statements, multiple shots were fired in the area and immediately thereafter unknown suspects were seen fleeing on foot.  An SPD K9 team responded to the area and conducted a search for outstanding suspects on foot with negative results.  Additional investigation has determined at least 3 unoccupied parked cars as well as one residence in the area were struck by the gun fire.  Preliminary reports indicate that no one was struck by this gun fire.  Detectives are continuing to process evidence and conduct interviews in relation to this incident.  The investigation is active and ongoing and there are no further details to release at this time.  Any persons with information are encouraged to contact SPD Detective Bill Davis at (302) 653-9217.  Persons may also contact SPD via Facebook message or Delaware Crime stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or on the web at  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
