On 12/19/17 at approx. 1506 hrs, Patrol officers responded to the area of the Royal Farms located at 304 N Dupont Blvd for a motor vehicle collision.  Upon arrival, Officers made contact with an 86 year old female from Dover who was the only involved driver.  Investigation revealed that her 1995 Ford Taurus lost the ability to brake, causing her to drive into the Royal Farms lot where she struck 3 parked vehicles and then crashed into the Advanced Auto Parts building.  The female was transported to Smyrna Bayhealth ER for minor non-life threatening injuries.  There were no other injuries reported and Advanced Auto Parts resumed normal business after being cleared by the town of Smyrna building inspections department.  No charges are expected at this time and alcohol/drugs are not considered factors.
